Laurie KennedyDo you know God’s assignment for you, your church or Mission organization? As a leader, do you know what God created you to do? Do you know the purpose God had in mind for you before you were born?

Let me integrate scripture into our lives today. What would happen if Christ dropped into your office, shop floor or home to spend an hour with you? What would the conversation be like? Yesterday, Sunday, we recognized Palm Sunday as the traditional day that Christ was welcomed into the city. Imagine a parade, palm branches, children laughing and cheering. A wonderful day. However, Christ would have known that his crucifixion was a week away. So, back to today. If Christ was to visit you today, what would His assignment be for you for the next twelve months?

I don’t think your assignment would be to continue the traditions and ensure the way we have always done it. Christ was a radical in his day. He challenged the traditions and status quo pointing people to the Father.

I don’t think your assignment would be to only minister to the committed faithful. Christ was actively involved with the people from all walks of life.

I don’t think your assignment would be to fight for your rights at the next annual church meeting.  Christ demonstrated the love of the Father in everything He did.

I think our assignments would be more like Matthew 28:18-20. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)

As a Leader, an obvious part of your role is to lead. You need to know what God’s assignment for you is.  What he created you to do and the purpose.

Leadership is letting your world know that Christ died for them and that God loves them.
