My Christian leadership is founded on a key life changing decision. I chose to accept Christ as my personal Savior. Christ accepted me, took my sin to the cross and paid the ultimate price. Accepting God’s gift of salvation provides not only a heavenly home but a daily relationship with Him. Salvation is not inherited. It is not a result of the country I was born in. It is not learned by the application of a body of knowledge and skills. I simply came to the day when it was right for me to accept God’s love and live for Christ.
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 NIV)
With that decision made it is my intention that every, action, thought and activity is refined to guide my actions. It isn’t me anymore, it isn’t my dreams, goals and plans. It isn’t striving to excel for career development or achievement of this world’s goods. The ultimate goal is to serve God.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV)
God‘s vision is an obvious concept. It is so logical. The Lord has a plan. He gave gifts and a vision to provide direction. As he provided a physical sign for Moses to follow he provides a vision for us. “Where there is no vision, the people perish”. (Proverbs 29:18 KJV)
During my teenage years I thought being in God’s will meant snakes and bugs in a distant land. I struggled, wanting to be in the Lord’s will. Yet, I feared the unknown. My Bible College President counselled me that I should use my gifts and heartfelt thoughts as a guide to career planning.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NIV)
Leadership is … accepting God’s gift of salvation and living each day for Him.
