Laurie KennedyLeaders come in all shapes, sizes and personalities. Their skills run the gamut; command and control, democratic, social organizer, delegate to a committee, always please the boss, dishonest, cover for me I’m busy, how can I make more money off of expense account and put your conscience on hold in this job.

We live and work in a challenging world economy overwhelmed with ethical and moral challenges. We are influenced daily by secular leaders offering solutions.  These leaders present as dynamic yet their results are less than positive.

As Christian leaders, we have to make a choice daily. We can follow the latest guru or we can strive to follow Christ.

“I am among you as the One who serves.” (Luke 22:27 NIV)

“…the substance of servant hood. It is about people who are willing to submit to the Lordship of Christ no matter what the personal implications”. (McManus, An Unstoppable Force)

“the criterion (job description) for leadership in the kingdom requires being a bondservant. A bondservant in Jesus’ day was someone who chose to be a servant for life, doing his master’s will.” (Winslow and Followwill, Christ in Church Leadership A Handbook for Elders and Pastors)

“The greatest among you will be your servant.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:11-12 NIV)

“Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone wants to be first, must be the very last, and the servant of all.” (Mark 9:35 NIV)

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,” (Matthew 20:26 NIV)

You decide for you, your community, city and your country.

Christian Leaders, we need to stand strong and secure following Christ’s direction. For me, I’m with Joshua, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 NIV)

Leadership is … living God’s love by serving your followers.
