“Values are un-compromisable, undebatable truths that drive and direct behavior. They are motivational, they give us reasons why we do things; and they are restrictive, they place boundaries around behavior.” (Dr. Sid Buzzell, General Editor of The Leadership Bible)

“Values are those things we consider or rate highly prize, esteem, or deem important.” (James C. Hunter, the World’s most powerful Leadership Principle)

Paul illustrates the power of values in the organizational setting of a church or mission. “From him the whole body, joined and held together every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16 NIV)

Further in the construction or organizational development analogy, your values are the weight bearing pillars. Attached to the foundation, they hold your organization together. They are unmovable, yet any damage to one of the pillars (values) will impact and weaken your whole structure.

As a Leader in your family, church, mission or business, can you state your values? Can you define them? Do you live them? OK, the most important question. Could your followers define your values by watching your behavior?

At the Jethro Group our Values are the foundation statements that are without compromise and non-negotiable. They are our standard statements of belief and action. All decisions and the results of the Jethro Group reflect the Values of Integrity, Faith Focused, Family Devoted, Teamwork, Servant Leadership, Prayer Directed, Demonstrating God’s love and Excellence. It is our prayer that the Pastors and Leaders we work with around the world will see and feel these values in all we do.

“We expect our leaders to have a sense of direction and a concern for the future of the organization. Leaders must know where they are going. They must have a destination in mind when asking us to join them on a journey into the unknown.” (Kouzes and Posner Credibility)

Leadership is … demonstrating God’s love through your values.
