The health of your church improves dramatically when your Boards and committees work together. The Church Board that prays, shares and works together will lead effectively. The gift of leadership is given to you, the leader, when you consistently demonstrate the qualities of praying, sharing and working together with your people.
The Lone Ranger, the independent radical leads to divisive independence, not to church health. Healthy leaders consistently speak with one voice on information, values and decisions.
Leadership Boards need to be multi-generational and multi-cultural. Your Boards must work together, develop relationships, understanding the cultural strengths and benefits of diversity. Then, their decisions will improve and they will demonstrate this new attitude to their people. Each member speaks with the same voice or doesn’t speak.
Leadership Boards need to pray for the corporate and individual needs of the church. Prayer is the foundation of spiritual growth leading to evangelism.
As a leader, it is your responsibility to ask the hard questions. You need to clarify the Vision, the goal and the end result? Healthy church leaders talk about their prayerful dreams, plans, ideas and solutions they are working towards.
The Leader defines the corporate vision and demonstrates it authentically. Each individual then defines their activities within that vision finding their place, using their spiritual gifts within the corporate view. This provides a focus to all church activities. Without purpose the people scatter.
Leadership drives the Vision to make Christ the focus of the church.
The leaders and the leadership Board have a primary focus toward spiritual vitality. There must be a driving force to improve and re-focus to spiritual vitality and evangelism. The vision must be only for Christ.
Scripture tells us, “Any Kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall.” (Luke 11:17 NIV) Let me paraphrase. The (family, Board, committee, church) that does not work together will not survive.
Leadership is speaking with one voice or not speaking at all.
