In 1993, a prospector became instantly famous and a world industry leader. He gathered thousands of followers and investors when he announced a gold find in Borneo. This find ultimately was confirmed as a fraud. Individuals, major corporations and Governments lost $6 Billion.
“(Leaders) failed in their duty to run the company with integrity, directors were remiss in their duty to watch over the operation, and regulators were negligent in picking up shoddy practices and signs of trouble.” (The Bre-X Fraud by Douglas Goold and Andrew Willis)
“Leadership is a process of influence. Anytime you seek to influence the thinking, behavior, or development of people in their personal or professional lives, you are taking on the role of a leader.” (Lead Like Jesus Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges)
As a leader in your church or Mission organization, you may not have world leaders, major corporations and governments seeking you. However, no matter how large or small we each have a responsibility to demonstrate God’s love.
“Everything rises and falls on leadership.” (Good Leaders ask Great Questions John C. Maxwell)
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45 NIV)
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:1-4 NIV)
Christian Leaders, no matter where you work, you are responsible to achieve positive God pleasing results. These results are critically dependent on integrity while honestly serving your people. In my Coaching practice we first talk spiritual issues with the Board and Leadership, and only then do we deal with organizational and system issues.
Leadership is being responsible for those being led and the results achieved.
